Rich Mix, Into Film and THAMES invite you to a Primary Media CPD day which will provide inspiration, techniques and resources to help you support your students produce a finished film.
The day will be hosted by Rich Mix and led by Into Film. The two sections will be Stop Motion Animation & Filmmaking. It’s encouraged that colleagues attend the full day but if schools’ commitments do not allow you can share a space with a colleague and/or attend for half a day.
Into Film will deliver both sessions in a practical way designed to help you to improve curricular learning, assessment and attainment through the use of filmmaking techniques.
The day is funded and offered to colleagues based in Tower Hamlets FREE of charge. If you are a Tower Hamlets School that is taking part in the Pic ‘n’ Mix programme through Rich Mix that includes Filmmakers in schools and ‘Tower Hamlets Stories’ Primary Film Festival, this is a vital part of the project and at least one member of your staff needs to attend

9.30-10.30 Introduction to teacher Mentors
10.30-13.00 Stop Motion Animation
Watch, analyse and create animations that you can integrate into your final film. Explore narrative, planning and design through claymation, silhouette and paper cut animation. Learn how stop-frame animations can be made in the classroom using a range of technology such as digital cameras, iPads and smart phones.
13.00-13.30 Lunch
13.30-15.30 Filmmaking
This session will build educator confidence in filmmaking. Filmmaking develops not just student voice, but a range of skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, and creativity. Educators will be equipped with a range of strategies to increase young people’s interest and understanding of film. Step-by-step guidance will be provided on including using different shot types, archive film, and documentary-style filmmaking. Support and advice will be given on how to use a range of software and adapt techniques to suit your classroom environment, specific learners’ needs and assessment objectives.
