After moving from Germany to London to live within a more diverse community, Livia Kojo Alour learns that the feelings of self-hate and otherness she experienced all her life are part internalised racism part survival techniques.
While building a successful career in the circus industry she grows tired of always playing someone she’s not and starts picking on these layers to unravel, understand and overcome. She uses poetry, music and physical performance to speak about the challenges and repercussions a Black woman has to face when daring to depart from stereotypes and move into her power.
Carving out a place for herself as one of the UK’s up and coming Black voices, Livia presents a performance that is timely, unsettling and powerful.
