Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) are Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Segerstad (ne Ringstrom) based in Goteborg, Sweden. CBL was formed in 1996.
CBL aim to combine earth and space in their music, using the combination of nature and technology as the main inspiration for their work. Despite having released twelve albums in the last eighteen years the Manchester musicians continue to experiment and push boundaries.
Since 2002 they have since released 4 official full length albums: Hydroponic Garden (2003), World of Sleepers (2006), Interloper (2009) and Twenty Three (2012). Also Refuge Soundtrack (2013), ALT:01 (2016) and Derelicts (2017). A new album is in development. Their music has been extraordinarily well-received by connoisseurs within the ambient scene and beyond.
Marconi Union return to Rich Mix to perform tracks from recent new album Signals and selections from their highly-acclaimed discography.
The band set to writing Signals with a whole new swathe of influences: ‘We talked about what it’d be like to have drummers like Jaki Leibezeit or Tony Allen playing on our music. How would that affect how we wrote?’ Alongside other influences from Krautrock to electronica, Signals enters exciting new territory.
