Kathak dancers will explore Ravel’s Bolero, maintaining the harmonic integrity, captivating repetitive melody, demonstrating thunder-like and complicated rhythmic footwork. New music arrangement by Roddy Matthews and choreographed by Shivani Sethia.
Inspired by Zoe and Idris Rahman’s jazz improvisation of ‘Amay Bhashaile Re’ (Now You’re Gone), a Bengali folk song, evokes the soulful persona of nature and longing, and Rez Kabir and Sumona Bhattacharya’s powerful recitation of Nazrul’s poem The Rebel, combines classical dance and modern poetic abstract. Choreographed by award-winning Kuchipudi dancer Arunima Kumar.
Vocalists Sadia Afroz Chowdhury, Farzana Sifat, acclaimed Sarod maestro Ustad Shahadat Khan, Tabla player Ustad Yousuf Ali Khan and Sarangi player Pandit Surjeet Singh perform memorable melodies in what promises to be an evening of powerful and unforgettable entertainment.
