Want to learn new skills and explore the creative industries? Start your journey by becoming a Rich Mix New Creative.

ABOUT 90S AND NOW

Our theme ‘90s & Now’ takes a look at the 1990s, explored through the art of documentary making with filmmaker and producer Emile Socialize, director of documentary Sole Seekers. As a crew, we will document the journey through interviews, vox pops, images and film, and compose a poetic narrative facilitated by Rich Mix Associate Artist, poet and presenter Mr Gee.

We had fun with the music of the decade and its crossover into now, and visited Strongroom Studios, which has played host to artists such as So Solid Crew, the Spice Girls and Adele. We also looked at our themes through art and design, and explored fashion customisation with Jahmale Jahmale, founder of Melaninaire and Denimreconlondon. This all culminated in a two-day festival at Rich Mix that will be open to the public and local community – showcasing the documentary, a 90s-themed exhibition and live performances to kick off the summer!

New Creatives gained skills in event management, producing an event via a workshop with We Are Family, and also learned how to promote and market an event with our team at Rich Mix and met a host of leading artists, tutors and creatives.
