We’re kicking off the new decade with a season celebrating the best music, spoken word, cinema and performance – all from the artists and companies who continually raise the bar, who we have helped raise and who we want to raise up!

Witness mind-bending collaboration-in-motion with poets, live music and kaleidoscopic visuals at Tongue Fu, who will also be celebrating their 10 year anniversary! Another institution on the spoken word scene, Jawdance, will also be turning 10 – that’s 10 years of mixing acclaimed acts with its renowned open mic (where many a spoken word artist started). Warning: these events contain powerful poetry and the best of vibes.

We’re on the edge of our seats in anticipation for Remixed Festival – the most eclectic indoor festival from the powerhouses behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La. Expect remixed sounds from Latin Grooves, Afrobeats, Tropical Bass, Urban Roots, Reggae-Dub and the return of popular BRASS OFF.

It couldn’t be a Raised @ Rich Mix season without inviting Hidden Gems Live to set The Stage alight. First created by east London rapper and long-time Rich Mix friend Lemzi in 2017, Hidden Gems Live has become a standout opportunity for emerging artists in London and across the UK. A must for fans of neo-soul, hip-hop, trap, R&B, acoustic music, afrobeats, grime, garage and spoken word.

There’s even more live music to sink your teeth into… As part of Arab Women Artists Now festival, celebrating its sixth year, we welcome Tarabband – a six-piece band led by Iraq-born musician Nadin Al Khalid whose stories of struggle and survival punctuate their jazz, Persian and Latin influenced sound. Hear all-female percussion and vocal quartet Let The Drum Beat’s latest album, with their unique blend of Afro-Brazilian grooves and rhythms. Demonstrating the power of music to transform lives,

Inner Vision Orchestra, brought together by blind Indian maestro Baluji Shrivastav OBE will take us on a journey in Folk Music from Around the World. Truly raising the roof in their electrifying style will be House Gospel Choir, also turning six!

As part of long-standing partners Dash Arts’ EUTOPIA season, they invite you to delve into the world of French photographer, painter and poet Dora Maar. Expect live music, short films and performance alongside insightful conversation. Marking five years as an artistic partner at Rich Mix, Ashley J presents Lovers and Friends – a night for those who love music, love comedy, love dance and love love!

Chinese Arts Now are back, this time with a series of events including Queering Now – an evening curated by Whiskey Chow, Sha Li, Burong Zeng amplifying the voices of Chinese Queer, ending in a mass queer party! Rich Mix friend and artist Amani Saeed hosts Hen-nah Party – an event which serves you all the joy and flavour of a henna night without the stress, gender norms or drama.

We’ve got lots to celebrate especially as we welcome back Bengali New Year festival which will be filled with colourful rituals, dazzling dance, traditional Bangla music and poetry. Plus, Tongues on Fire’s annual UK Asian Film Festival returns for its 22nd year! Come and check out the very best of contemporary South Asian films, this time with the theme Uprooted, with stories of change and migration.

At Rich Mix, we want to help raise the next generation of local artists, storytellers and makers so look out for our family events, which includes a workshop as part of National Storytelling Week all about growing up. We believe play is important in discovering your inner creativity – so bring your families and under 5s to our regular events StoryPlay and Active Stay and Play.

Keep an eye on our blog and #RaisedAtRichMix on socials as we’ll be shining a light on many of the artists and companies we love, and who bring that Rich Mix energy time and time again.
