Hawiyya Dance Company draws upon traditional and contemporary dance to offer solidarity and amplify anti-colonial struggles – placing the representation of strength and resilience, alongside a celebration of culture and ancestral history.

Founded in 2017, Hawiyya, meaning identity in Arabic, is a diverse, all-female company based in London. Breeze Beneath is an experimental work in progress – an exploration of the rythms that connect us, between struggle and rest, daily life and moments of increased tension, loss, and resistance. Using choreographies that mix dabke and contemporary styles, voice and dance theatre, Hawiyya dancers bring to the stage a personal and collective journey through memories, struggle, and liberation.

Dancers: Shahd Abusalama, Farah AlHaddad, Sara Amawi, Jamila Boughelaf, Layla Kara, Serena Spadoni and Zeina Zkeih.

Choreographies and narrative: Jamila Boughelaf, Sara El Sheekh, Sylvia Ferreira and Serena Spadoni.

Book Passports, Mo Salah, Jinn and Other Complicated Things and Breeze Beneath on the same day for £30 by adding both to your basket before you check-out.
