Join us for a day of Architecture! Let’s Make, Walk & Talk.
The event will start with a walk around Shoreditch to see the local architectural heritage as well as more contemporary art such as Camile Walala‘s mural ‘Belleville’.
Young people will be asked to record the shapes, forms and geometries that they see, and following a short break, the event will conclude in a creative and collective map-making activity back at the Rich Mix building.
This event is suitable for families with young people aged between 6-11 years old.
We will be meeting in the Rich Mix foyer. Please check in with our Box Office team when you arrive.
MEET THE FACILITATORS
Paris Albert is an ARB registered architect with 10 years of experience in the industry, currently working in Interior Architecture. Through her career, she aims to combat the limited access to architecture for young people from poor and ethnic backgrounds.
Paris works as a BFA advocate, and also founded Archity, a design events planner, which aims to create better access and inclusion in the industry. Paris believes working collaboratively is pivotal to our role in creating the built environment.
Neba Sere is an Educator, Senior Project Officer at the Greater London Authority, and co-director of Black Females in Architecture. She has led design & construction projects with young people at Build Up Foundation, and was formally one of six young trustees of the Architecture Foundation.
[Her interest lies in understanding the process of decolonising the architecture profession and thus the built environment, specifically looking at how citizen-led initiatives can have a long term impact on the spaces we inhabit, and involving young communities in the regeneration process of their city through advocacy and outreach.]
